Paul McCartney iniciará el 2012 con un álbum de versiones y dos canciones originales, según anunció él mismo, lo que permitirá a sus seguidores atisbar la música que inspiró a una de las bandas de rock más grandes de la historia, los Beatles.
LOS ANGELES- El álbum aún sin título, que saldrá a la venta el 7 de febrero, presentará al ex Beatle en un "viaje profundamente personal" interpretando canciones clásicas americanas que le inspiraron a él y a su compañero John Lennon cuando escribieron sus propios temas.
"Cuando en cierta manera me metí en la composición de canciones, me di cuenta de lo bien estructuradas que estaban estas canciones, y creo que saqué muchas lecciones de ellas", dijo McCartney en un comunicado el lunes.
"Siempre pensé que artistas como Fred Astaire eran buenísimos. Escritores como Harold Arlen, Cole Porter, todos esos chicos, simplemente pensaba que las canciones eran mágicas. Y luego, cuando me hice compositor pensé que era preciosa la forma en que hacían esas canciones", agregó.
Aliándose con la música de jazz Diana Krall y el productor Tommy LiPuma, el ex Beatle grabó su voz en una cabina sin instrumentos por primera vez en su carrera en la música.
"Fue muy espontáneo, en cierta forma orgánico, que luego me recordó la forma en que solíamos trabajar con los Beatles", dijo McCartney.
"Traíamos una canción, la mareábamos, cuando encontrábamos una manera de hacerla decíamos 'bueno, vamos a hacer una toma ahora' y para cuando todo el mundo tenía una idea de lo que estaba haciendo, nos aprendíamos la canción. Así que eso es lo que hicimos, llevamos el directo al estudio", agregó.
Aunque la lista completa de canciones aún no se ha revelado, el álbum incluirá colaboraciones en dos canciones nuevas y originales con los músicos legendarios Stevie Wonder en "Only Our Hearts" y Eric Clapton en "My Valentine".
